It’s time for the 12 days of….

4 calling birds, 8 maids a milking, 6 french hens?

I don’t know about you, but the holidays are already stressful enough what with family, gifts and crowds– I don’t need to add this cacophony as well!

So this year, instead of the traditional “12 days of Christmas” I’ve partnered up with the gracious Tara Stiles of Strala Yoga to bring you the ’12 days of yoga.’ Each day up until the 25th I’ll post a new pose each day, accompanied by some tips & benefits as shared by Tara.

***Please remember to use common sense & only do these if you feel comfortable and/or are a regular practitioner of yoga–if you have any doubts about any of these, ask a yoga teacher to help you!

So, without further ado: Here’s the 1st day’s pose–Enjoy!

On the 1st day of Christmas my yogi guru gave to me….

How to: Straighten your legs & grab your right ankle with your right hand. Press the sole of your right foot into your left upper thigh (or if you have trouble balancing, place on your left calf, or ankle, while keeping your toes on the floor). When you feel steady, extend your arms upward (or keep them in prayer position in front of your chest)

Benefits: Tree Pose strengthens the legs, while improving balance & concentration.
